It´s gonna happen… + Soul Calibur V Game Review

Finally I feel like I am getting my project moving; I wanted to have something more complete and presentable to show you all, but I´ve had some issues with my computer this week and I am kinda worried, I hope this problem doesn't aggravate any more…

I hope this little tease give you an idea of what I have in store!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This game is like a coin; it has two faces…

Is not a bad game but it does have many flaws that damages it´s quality, although many would argue that a fighting game´s story is second against gameplay and the core mechanics, I disagree but in absolute understanding that is very important for this kind of games to get that right… but we´ll get to that when we get to that. Soul Calibur V´s story line is a really dumb one; it made me feel confused, weird and wandering "huh?" "what?" and "how"… when stories do this I know something is wrong and I think that the main problem is with the characters in general (especially the protagonist) and that is that they are either just introduced and not presented well enough or just show up to disappear and never be seen or heard from again, event´s that lead nowhere and may I say, the main character (the guy we fallow that we are all supposed to root for) is a complete asshole, the very first moment he is introduced he is being a horrible person, I understand his intentions are good and the ends justify the means and all that, but I never see this anywhere. The story is just an overall mess.

Thankfully the game mechanics are great, the fights are always a joy to experience and the core mechanics are well applied, even though I personally find some characters more overpowered than others is all a minor distraction… I also really appreciate the inclusion of character creation, you give his/her own look (armor, weapon, etc…) and a fighting style that is basically one of the characters already in the main game…

Soul Calibur V happen to be a really good game IMO, is not the best fighting game I have played (kinda far from it) but I think the goal of this title was to be a fun fighting game and that success. I personally still think is kinda of a weak intro in this series because of it´s mediocre story line. If you like this franchise then by all means play it but if you are not you are still going to enjoy it, even if the story will have you scratch your head many times...

Why is Game of Thrones so good?

(At the point of this post the series is up to season 4)

I imagine that almost everybody reading this is aware of the hit TV show "Game of Thrones", and is sculpted fame; just on a side note here, I will try to keep this article with has few spoilers has possible.

The amount of fame that the series has gathered has made it a big topic to talk about, it is called one of the best TV series of all time if not the best; is watch by many people all over the world the audiences are varied from hardcore movie and show goers to regular watchers and pretty much everybody has at the very least heard of the series.

The show is based on the books of "A song of ice and fire" by George RR Martin, and the books have been around for a while before the TV series lunch but it was until recently that the series scaled to a high known franchise.

Why do I like "Game of Thrones"? I find this question hard to answer, not because I can´t find a good reason but because there are too many reasons… (even if that seems hard to believe) but maybe that is exactly the reason right there there are too many reasons and every single one of them valid. The may different story lines, each of them connect to one another creating one big cohesive story; the great characters, the extensive world and rich lore make of the series something alive and something you really get lost into.

I remember George RR Martin said in an interview he loves to have his viewers "on the edge of their seat" he gave this answer in response to the fact that characters that die in this show are usually the heroes, or the ones who we has audiences are accustom to know can´t die because they are the heroes, they are supposed to be the invisible good guy that saves the day in the end. Game of Thrones brakes this rule and instead shows us that not all the characters WILL survive, so if you fall in love with one of them, be scared because they can die… and there is one of the things that makes this show so amazing is that it wants you to care for this world has much has they can. The many sex scenes, incest, child attempt murder, etc… are made to shock us, for many series have this elements just for the sake of keep us watching knowing they have zero substance but this series knows this elements are a part of the world George created and uses it has a way to represent the kind of place Westeros is (is not like our world doesn't have things like this lol).

I personally find Game of Thrones has one of the most amazing television series ever made, even though I admit I am not into some of the story lines or sometimes I feel like not much happens in one episode, even does have something I can see, love or admire that it keeps me watching and just like I said before, the many story lines are the many flavors of this great series, of course all are great and are connected to the one big story is trying to tell, the story lines that I can get interested in engulf me because of the characters and lore that enrich the world.

The series has been able to keep a solid stance in this genera of television series with great characters, stories and worlds, we can all hope it keeps it like this for has long has the series lasts, the books are yet to be finished by the time of this post and we can hope it ends on a satisfying note… but until then it´s great to see this show get this amount of attention and the audiences who watch it (or read it) be so passionate about it. I have enjoyed this series since almost it´s start and to watch it grow makes me happy that people can appreciate whats good about our tv series...

Dragon Age Origins Game Review

This game is one of the best western RPGs ever made IMO

There is so much I can talk about this game that I don't know where to start; the world of Fereldan is full of life, massive locals, civilizations, faun and flora that I can tell the creators had a clear vision in the kind of world they wanted players to live in throughout their experience; the gameplay it's also great, instead of being a game where a head on assault can give you victory always you are actually forced to plan very well and very carefully how to approach every situation by considering what are the strength and weaknesses of every member from your group of companions.

But the icing of the cake is the story, characters and lore of this universe; it's so rich and strong that it really helps with the feeling of immersion that every RPG game must achieve, it's made even better by letting you create your own character, his/her race and backstory helping you carve your own and make you feel that you are actually being a part of the actual game instead of a player controlling a character.

Dragon Age Origins is one of my favorite games of all time; is a wonderful fantasy RPG that deserves to be tried by every fan of the genre; this is one game I always recommend and I still do. If you have been holding back I say check it out.

102 Dalmatians Review

Why does this movie exists...?

Does 101 Dalmatians demanded the story to continue? Did the fans of the original wanted a sequel so badly?
Why did creators of this movie believed that there was any possibility of making this a good movie out of such a dumb story like this? I can hardly remember the plot, the characters are forgettable, clumsy editing and weak directing...

Maybe the cutie animals can keep the interest of the young ones and maybe the humor, but I still find this film to be very bad; I don't recommend it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why is this kind of bad not funny?

Is just a clumsy movie, with clumsy story, clumsy cinematography, bad acting (that I wouldn't even call
"acting") and bad lighting... how can you be so bad lighting a movie so you can see anything? everything is so dark in this movie even when something should be perfectly lit! is bad directing... I know that the director's background is on cinematography but that doesn't excuse the directing in this film, is just bad... and the characters in short: why couldn't chun-li be asian? why can't m. bison look like m. bison? the characters resemble nothing to their video game counterpart.

Is hard to think of good things for this movie, but that's because there is hardly anything good about it except for maybe the choreography... is ok I guess, but still, this one a recommend a skip…

Back to work / Dead or Alive 5 Game Review

Hello everybody!

Few… it´s been a very tiring week… after a very long time I am finally stablished in new house and I am ready to go back to my normal life, I am very happy to be able to keep working on my project that i sure hope to be able to share with you all here; if everything goes well I might be able to show something very soon (hopefully by the end of this week).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This game is very adicting and fun!

With many modes to play, tight controls, good looking character models and fast animations; DOA5 is an excellent fighting game that is worth checking out by almost every fan of the genre. Me personally, have have never been good at fighting games, DOA5 managed to grip me because is basically fun to play, the reason that I can think for is the fast paced combat and intensity of each fight, it manages to keep you on the edge of your seat enjoying your time with it even when having a bad match.

Maybe the story is a little clumsy compared to the stories in other fighting games, but I can safely say compared to other stories in the same genera that I have seen is defently better; is avarage at best. DOA5 is a fun video game, plain and simple, is not the best by any means but it´s a good game to have fun with.

Wrong Turn Review - Update

This movie is very clumsy.

I can appreciate the approach in terms of atmosphere, location and story, but everything about this movie is
clumsy; Why are those hill billys so invisible? why the wacky acting? why are the characters so dumb? why is the camera work so awkward? You can argue this are all budget issues but that doesn't excuse the lack of focus this movie has... there have been movies made that have more focus than many major produced films.

This movie is not awful, is just mediocre in almost everything it does; I say this because I can appreciate the idea, but is just a clumsy movie overall.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Review

In my opinion, the worst movie of the Harry Potter saga...

Why? Because everything is just filler for the next movie, things do happen in
this movie however; the story advances, the characters are memorable, the production value is on the money and the stakes are high... but for more then half of the movie nothing happens, you might has well be looking at a wall, it pretty much turns around all the other points I mentioned before until the final act where the movie gather strength but not enough to make it something worth your while.

The movie's saving grace is it's production value, I can appreciate the work and effort putted into the development of this picture; actors, director, etc... but only in the final act things finally move along.

Halloween Remake Review

This is not a bad movie, but it plays in the comfort zone of horror movies.

It's not a problem of execution but a problem of simplicity,
the original movie keeps the character of Micheal Myers has a sadistic and cold killer, while this movie gives him a tragic back story that is taken from the "generic back story" book; the problem with this is that it makes Michael an regular psychopath instead of an unstoppable force like in the original...

The movie holds very well on it's own however, is well shoot, well acted and well directed; the problems with this movie is that is based on a classic when it didn't need to. I don't blame if somebody likes this movie because it's good, it just has problems when compared to the classic.

2012 Review

This movie is dumb and funny... that is just funny

You know that when you see an action scene and the characters are able to survive by
sheer luck, you know something is wrong but then when you find yourself saying "this is hilarious" something is been done right... 2012 seem to be aware that the audience will keep their attention and not be bored has long has they keep much action has possible, witch always comes in the form of a chase scene it works for the attention span but the movie it self is brainless: the story is non-existent, acting is pretty bad, the action (despite being the highlight) were badly shoot, way too shaky and some effects were unconvincing...

The movie fulfills it's propose of being pop-corn fun, it will keep you entertained, but when it comes to the concept of being meaningful and have depth, specially when talking about the end of the world, is just meh... the film is just barely average.

The Incredibles Review

It's a really good movie...

Almost every scene has something to appreciate; the story is solid, the characters are fun, the lore is kinda
cool, the animation is great and the character design is very good... I know we have seen the super-hero family setting somewhere else but this movie somehow makes it work like is new, the length is fairly good and is a fun movie for young kids. The director has always been good with family bond movies and he repeats this statement with this film, I think the design of the characters are great, I think is important to say because many 3D films usually design the characters on the computer, but in this movie they were drawn first.

I think that the movie could have been much better if there was more focus on the family instead of Mr. Incredible's "mid-life crisis", I still think many can enjoy this film, is just that good... I highly recommend it.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Review

Great movie in almost every aspect they did it!

The story is very smart (specially for a time travel movie), acting is good, actions scenes
are well shoot and the writing is pretty good has well, dialogue feels natural... there is plenty of things to appreciate in terms of production, like the make-up for Raven/Mystique, the effects for the action scenes and the scale of what's at stake carries a weight that does convince the audience.

Maybe the action was less impressive than in other X-Men movies, I don't know what fans think of this but judging by the response everybody seem to be happy with the end result and so am I; I recommend this one if you want a good super-hero movie.
